Chris grew up in Blackpool, North West England, after his parents moved there from Northern Ireland at the height of "The Troubles".
He worked from a very early age, trying out many jobs which all showed him the importance of doing something different with his life. At the tender age of 17 years old, he joined the Royal Air Force, where he spent the next 7.5 years travelling to 30+ countries while learning & applying his trade as an aircraft mechanic / technician.
He got involved in lots of other things (trekking in the Himalayas, hang gliding, playing rugby in overseas...) and loved his time in the forces.
His most notable posting was working on the famous 'Red Arrows' aerobatic display team (he actually got to fly one as a 'jolly' that the crew get), but the job he enjoyed most was working on the Chinook Helicopters of Joint Special Forces Aviation Wing.
He then met an Italian girl who would go on to change everything...

Rossella grew up in a small town near Modena, in the North of Italy.
Rossella spent her younger years studying for her intended career choice of a traditional job. She gained a degree in Economics and went on to do a postgraduate in International Management.
As part of Rossella's postgraduate, she spent 3 months on a placement working for a company in London. She went home with more than work experience: at the end of the three months she went home having gained a long distance boyfriend, who was about to throw her career plans into complete disarray...

Maintaining a long distance relationship between the UK and Italy was not easy with one party serving in the armed forces, and the other studying full time, so Chris decided to leave the Royal Air Force.
He got a dream job as a Remotely Operated Vehicle Pilot / Technician and started working at sea on ships and platforms, usually working a month on, month off schedule.
After reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad, a motorbike accident and subsequent convalescence resulted in Chris coming up with a crazy business idea...
Instead of buying a house in Italy and renting it out to create income (the plan before the bike crash), he could buy a boat instead, which would cost less than a house, but would bring in more rent...
The rent from the first boat would fund the purchase of a second, and the grand vision was to have 10 boats stored ashore in a (cheap as chips) field, which would launched onto Lake Garda for week long rentals.
After discussions with the factory, a USA-based manufacturer who had sold over 38,000 boats worldwide, Chris was offered the exclusive dealership for the entire territory of Italy.
Despite:
1. Not speaking Italian.
2. Not having any sailing experience.
3. Not having any business experience.
4. Not having the funds to start a boat importation business.
With the enthusiasm and optimism of youth on his side, Chris discounted the four points above and entered into a contract to buy the first two boats and thus become the sole importer & distributor for Italy.
Rossella was dragged into Chris's crazy endeavor right from the start, and while writing the thesis for her postgraduate, she was also simultaneously tasked with translating an extremely technical owners manual for a trailerable sailing boat.
And so followed some very exciting and extremely busy years. The boat dealership consumed our lives... We gained probably 15 years worth of life experience in just a few short years, before selling up so that we were able to have time to enjoy life together.
Chris went back offshore as a freelancer, with lots more time at home and more control over where and when time was spent at sea.
Years later we bought VinceRo, and then when Rossella became pregnant with Emma, we purchased Britaly, our current Bavaria 350. Due to our boat buying experience, this didn't cost us anything: we effectively 'swapped' a 30 ft boat for a younger 35 ft boat, which we are now in the process of slooooooooooowly taking from the UK to the Mediterranean!
Being able to spend quality time together on the boat as a family is a huge blessing, and we LOVE being on board together!
We're now on a mission to help as many families as possible discover the joys of boat life, and we hope that we can inspire people to live a life full of their God-given FREEDOM!
